Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

"Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE"Sprint network and HTC, a global designer of smartphones, announced the  availability of the next evolution of the award-winning Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE due out on May 18th. Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

HTC EVO 4G LTE sets the benchmark for Android devices this year with its incredible 4.7-inch screen, advanced camera features and future HD voice capabilities. When combined with the speed of Sprint’s upcoming 4G LTE network its cutting-edge technology pairs perfectly with Sprint’s unlimited data plans.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE is built on Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, integrated with HTC Sense 4. It focuses on exceptional improvements in camera technology, audio and voice quality on both the network and device.

HTC Image Sense brings improvements to every part of the amazing camera experience featuring a superfast autofocus to enable continuous shooting, the ability to capture still images while taking video, and increasing the quality of photos taken in adverse conditions such as low light, no light or with bright backlighting.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE is Sprint’s first device with HTC’s Authentic Sound experience integrating Beats Audio(TM). The technology enables customers to hear music the way the artist intended with unique audio tuning that delivers thundering bass, soaring midrange and crisp highs. Beats Audio is enabled across the entire phone experience, including playing music stored on the device, streaming from a favorite service, watching a movie or YouTube video, or playing the latest hot game.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE boasts brilliant features, including a vibrant 4.7-inch HD display, future HD voice capabilities(2), 2000mAh embedded battery and 8-megapixel rear-facing and 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras. It is powered by the Snapdragon S4 processor by Qualcomm, delivering best-in-class performance and a power efficient platform for exceptionally long battery life.  Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE brings back the fan-favorite kickstand built into the smartphone’s refined, slim design.

“With the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE, we’re launching a true successor the original EVO, bringing a focus on innovation, design and industry-leading consumer experiences,” said Martin Fichter, vice president, product management, HTC America. “The millions of current and new EVO fans will appreciate our amazing camera that’s superfast, easy-to-use and takes video and photos at the same time as well as our enhanced audio experience that you need to hear to believe.”

Respected device critics are buzzing with excitement for HTC EVO 4G LTE. Here are a few of the praises that poured in when it was announced earlier this month:

– “The Sprint  HTC EVO 4G LTE is a good looking phone and will make fans of Sprint’s EVO line very, very happy. It packs every spec anyone could possibly ask for: dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 8-megapixel camera, 4.7-inch HD display, and the latest Android 4.0 operating system, enhanced by Sense 4.0. Oh, let’s not forget the kickstand!” — Eric Zeman, Phonescoop

– “The original superphone has been reborn.” — Mark Spoonauer, Laptop Magazine

– “As for first impressions, I was shocked when I finally got to hold an EVO 4G LTE. In the presentation videos the phone looked thick and bulky. In person, it’s anything but. It is thin, deceptively lightweight and absolutely beautiful.” — Gary Krakow, TheStreet.com

– “Yesterday Sprint and HTC made a joint announcement, unveiling the brand new EVO 4G LTE. It’s an impressive device. Thin, light, fast, powerful, the whole package.” — Steve Kovach, Business Insider

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE customers can enjoy an unlimited data experience with Sprint Everything Data plans. Sprint’s Everything Data plan with Any Mobile, Anytime(SM) includes unlimited Web, texting and calling to and from any mobile in America while on the Sprint Network, starting at just $79.99 per month for smartphones — a savings of $40 per month versus Verizon’s comparable plan with unlimited talk, text and 2GB Web, or $10 per month savings versus Verizon’s 450-minute plan with unlimited text and 2GB Web (excludes taxes and surcharges). Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE is one of the first devices available with Sprint Professional Grade, a new designation for select smartphones that deliver enhanced security, device management and Exchange Active Sync capabilities to business users. Sprint Android Tablet ZTE Optik

Sprint Android Tablet

"Sprint Android Tablet"In Google’s most recent earnings call, Google CEO Larry Page made a big deal out of the affordabletablets using the Android operating system. The ZTE Optik, carried exclusively by Sprint is one of those tablets except instead of the $250ish price tag most Android low-cost Android tablets are carrying, the ZTE Optik is only $99 with a new two year agreement. Sprint Android Tablet

We’ve been using the ZTE Optik for about three weeks now and are overall impressed at what you can get for $99. However we had a hurdle to get through and we spoke with Sprint’s Mark Elliott about that earlier on in the review. You see if you’re used to all of the bells and whistles of the latest greatest Android tablets this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a quad-core super tablet, again this isn’t for you. Sprint Android Tablet

If you’re looking for a great media consumption device. Something to use in a pinch that’s connected to the internet, and something that’s got a dual core processor, BINGO this is for you. Sprint Android Tablet

Sprint WiMax Days Are Over
by admin

The days of Sprint as WiMax’s champion are officially over.

"Sprint WiMax Days Are Over"

Sprint WiMax Days Are Over

Earlier this morning, Bob Azzi, senior vice president of networks at Sprint, told attendees at the Competitive Carriers Global Expo that Sprint is through launching devices that use the WiMax 4G technology. Sprint WiMax Days Are Over

Considering that Sprint announced its first 4G LTE phone at CES, the unreleased Samsung Galaxy Nexus, it’s no surprise that the carrier is throwing focus and resources squarely — and solely — behind LTE. Sprint WiMax Days Are Over

Azzi amplified the sentiment, Fierce Wireless reported. “We are wrapping up final field integration tests,” he told the audience. “The technology works and delivers more benefits than we expected.” Sprint WiMax Days Are Over

Sprint dared to be different by choosing WiMax as its 4G technology rather than LTE, like its rivals. Riding on WiMax, and partner Clearwire, Sprint made a mark by beating LTE carriers to market with the United States’ first 4G phone, the HTC Evo 4G. Sprint WiMax Days Are Over

Since then, Verizon, AT&T, and even second-tier wireless provider MetroPCS have all deployed LTE networks, increasing the pressure on Sprint to adopt the standard. Sprint WiMax Days Are Over

A year ago at CTIA, Sprint CEO Hesse explained that while WiMax seemed like a good idea back when, Sprint knew it was time to switch to LTE. “WiMax was tried-and-true tested technology at the time we made the choice,” Hesse said. “And we thought we could go with that for 4G now or wait for another technology that would be ready later. And we couldn’t wait.” Sprint WiMax Days Are Over

Sprint continues to ready its first wave of markets, which it’s planning to launch by the middle of 2012, with LTE-Advanced in 2013.

Sprint Introduces The HTC Evo 4G LTE
by admin

HTC Evo 4G LTE

"HTC EVO 4G LTE"The HTC Evo 4G LTE will be Sprint’s second LTE phone. It’ll be available in the spring for $199.99.

Sprint and HTC just unveiled an LTE version of the popular Evo smartphone that helped put HTC on the map in the U.S. Officially called the HTC Evo 4G LTE, it’ll will be available exclusively on Sprint this spring for $199.99.

You may be a little confused. Yes, we said Sprint, and yes, we said LTE. Sprint so far hasn’t deployed a high-speed LTE network, and it didn’t announce an official launch at this evening’s event. But the frequencies are settled, the chips are ready and the network will begin rollout later this year (first in Texas, Atlanta, and Baltimore). The Evo 4G LTE will be ready for that network when it arrives.

In the meantime, it’s got plenty of features to keep customers interested. Chief among them is the camera, an 8-megapixel shooter that performs well in low light and has an easy-to-use burst mode that snaps 4 pics per second for as long as you hold it (it’ll stop itself eventually). It can also capture still pics while shooting 1080p video.

HTC EVO 4G LTE

Those pics will look nice and big on the Evo’s hefty 4.7-inch “super” LCD screen. The biggie-size screen looked fairly bright in our brief hands-on, and it follows the current trend of large-size screens spreading to more phones, with one extremely notable exception. Don’t worry, though, the new HTC Evo is no brick. It’s a relatively svelte 8.98 mm, and felt quite comfortable to hold. HTC EVO 4G LTE

The phone also has a first-ever feature for the U.S.: HD Voice. In an impressive demonstration, Sprint played a call from actor Kiefer Sutherland, starting out speaking on a typical, fairly muffled call which got slowly more unintelligible as background noise took over. Then the call switched over to HD Voice, and Sutherland’s voice came through crystal clear. HTC EVO 4G LTE

HD Voice works via a combination of tech on the phone and tech on the network. Although Sprint says HD Voice doesn’t depend on 4G (or even 3G) connectivity, it’s limited only to Sprint-to-Sprint calls. The tech isn’t proprietary to either Sprint or HTC, but the carriers have yet to work out how each one’s implementation will interact with other networks. HTC EVO 4G LTE

Other notable specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.6GHz dual-core processor, NFC, 16GB of on-board memory, with a micro-SD slot under the hood for up-to an additional 32GB of storage, Beats Audio, Android 4.0, and a kickstand — a feature which disappeared since the first Evo and has now returned. HTC EVO 4G LTE

Sprint HTC EVO One Going LTE
by admin

Sprint HTC EVO One

"Sprint HTC EVO One Going LTEAT&T customers are patiently waiting for the glorious arrival of the HTC One X smartphone, but it looks like Sprint fans are in for a treat too. We’re hearing that a variant of the One X is coming to Sprint and it could be unveiled next month as the HTC EVO One.  Sprint HTC EVO One

It’s a well known secret now that Sprint  HTC EVO One will soon launch their 4G LTE network to match those from Verizon and now AT&T which are now well established. In order for this to be a success they need a new flagship handset to gain the interest of consumers, and what better way for it to be Sprint’s version of arguably the best Android smartphone announced so far. Sprint HTC EVO One

The HTC One X will arrive on AT&T in the coming months and judging by recent benchmark results, it’s going to be the fastest Android phone ever Sprint HTC EVO One – easily eclipsing Verizon’s best handset in the Galaxy Nexus. Android Central has gained intel from an insider that April 4th will see the official unveiling of the EVO One for Sprint, and that a release will happen sometime during June. Sprint HTC EVO One

Specs will largely be the same as the One X, and being LTE-based, it will only feature a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor unlike the International version which packs a Tegra 3 1.5Ghz quad-core+1 chip. This is by no means a hindrance though as the benchmark tests from the AT&T version proved that the Snapdragon S4 chip is still capable of competing with the best quad-core chips out there at the moment. Other impressive specs include an HD 4.7-inch AMOLED display, an 8 megapixel rear camera with 2MP front-camera and of course Android 4.0 with Sense 4.0 UI on top. Sprint HTC EVO One

Like all recent HTC smartphones, this will be another Beats Audio device, but there’s no indication yet if this will have support for NFC to take advantage of features such as Android Beam and Google Wallet. The most pleasing aspect from our point of view is that the initial specs list also reveals a possible 2,650mAh battery, which is remarkable considering that the AT&T One X only features a 1,600mAh battery. Sprint HTC EVO One

That is over 1,000mAh of extra juice to utilize, so that makes the Sprint version a lot better on paper from where we’re standing. Surely HTC wouldn’t alienate AT&T One X buyers in this way with the huge difference in battery capacity? At the moment though, these specs are still pending until the big reveal on April 4th. If you were previously dead set on picking up a HTC One X from AT&T, let us know if you’re now thinking about changing your mind for a 2,650mAh beast from Sprint instead. Sprint HTC EVO One

Ice Cream Sandwich On Sprint WiFi Xoom Tablet

"Ice Cream Sandwich WiFi Xoom"The Motorola Xoom has been available since May 2011 on the Sprint network and today, it looks like the Wi-Fi only version of the tablet is set to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update.  This comes as good news for Xoom tablet owners, as the list of devices getting the ICS update is finally getting longer.  The Xoom is Motorola’s first ever tablet and it features a huge 10.1-inch display that has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.  The official build of the Android operating system is listed at 4.0.3, or the IML77 build. Ice Cream Sandwich WiFi Xoom

The update will be coming in time, so be patient, but if you want to double check manually you would go into Settings > About tablet > System updates to find out if the update is ready.  The Xoom captured the industry as Motorola’s first tablet and the features really made consumers fall in love with it.  Other than the 10.1-inch display, the tablet comes with a dual-core ARM-based Tegra 2 processor that is clocked at 1 GHz and plays along nicely with the graphics processor.  The RAM is listed at 1GB, wchih is just about standard these days and the internal storage can be upgraded to 32GB via the microSD card slot. Ice Cream Sandwich WiFi Xoom

The camera on the back 5MP and has a dual LED flash along with auto-focus and digital zoom.  The camera can also record 720p HD video at 30 frames per second.  The 2MP camera on the front side is larger in size than the normal 1.3MP and can be used for video calling.  Browsing is enhanced with support for HTML and Flash 10.1, along with built-in options for Facebook, Picasa, your Twitter account and excellent Google Map features.  The Ice Cream Sandwich WiFi Xoom does come with GPS navigation and threaded message support.

Personal email can be downloaded to the Ice Cream Sandwich WiFi Xoom via IMAP, POP3, SMTP and the Microsoft Exchange software.  Wireless connections can be made via Bluetooth 2.1, EDR and this tablet is actually only able to connect to the Web via Wi-Fi.  MicroUSB ports help out if you have an external storage device or want to charge your tablet.  The microHDMI port allows for exporting from the tablet to another television source.  The two pound Motorola Xoom costs $499 retail on the Motorola website with free two-day shipping options available.
